Light Environmental's Devour™ System is an exciting state-of-the-art patented wastewater treatment solution that significantly reduces the organic solids generated in the wastewater treatment process.
The key to the technology is the Biomass Tower that utilizes next-generation biological wastewater treatment technology. The process breaks down wastewater using hundreds of suspended biofilm carriers which provide an active surface area sustaining autotrophic and heterotrophic bacteria within secure cells.
This thriving community of bacteria produces a high rate of biodegradation activity inside the biomass tower, while offering process efficiency, automation and a resiliency uncommon in other wastewater treatment systems.
The wastewater is delivered to the treatment plant where it flows through a grit removal unit and an automatic bar screen. The wastewater then flows through the two chambers of the balance tank and is aerated by fine bubble diffusion. From the balance tank, the wastewater flows through the biological aeration filter chamber which contains the hollow plastic media known as Biomass Carriers that ensure a very high level of sewage purification at great speeds. A central air lift aerator provides for an oxygen rich environment. The processed wastewater then flows to the clarifier tank for final settlement and polishing before being filtered and sent through a UV Unit for disinfection.
The Devour™ Wastewater Treatment Process is ideal for:
- New wastewater treatment plants
- Existing plants looking to expand or upgrade
- Plants with high energy costs
- lants with high operation and maintenance costs
Advantages to our Devour™ System:
- Small surface area required for the plant which lowers acquisition cost for land
- Very low power consumption
- Fewer components required to construct the system lowers capital investment
- Low operation and maintenance cost
- Little or no organic sludge generated unlike 99% of all other wastewater treatment systems. Low biomass production as a result of the biological processing of the influent. This low biomass production yields low cost of biomass disposal.
- No chemicals for operation required.
- Our plant requires less than 50% of the ¡°normal testing cycle¡± in order to operate, as compared to a conventional wastewater treatment plant.
- Our plant requires less than 75% of the ¡°normal maintenance¡± due to the significant decrease of activated sludge generated by the wastewater plant.
- Effectively treated effluent guaranteed at < 5 mg/l on BOD and TSS
- Full automation and monitoring of process parameters; plant operates without full-time personnel systems
- State-of-the-art construction materials; glass fused metal tanks; HDPE for HBS; HDPE for in-line units
- Scalability of the plant capacity; modular construction eases expansion
- Convertibility; system can be dismantled and re-assembled on new location without damaging the structural elements, providing you with economical alternatives
- Odor-free; odor is eliminated due to high concentration of the dissolved oxygen entering the system. Plant can be built close to the source
- Environmental Friendly; lower power, less land, reduced odor
