Light Environmental, Inc. initiates construction of a 300,000 GPD activated sludge treatment plant for the City of Lake Lotawana, Missouri

Kansas City, Missouri (January 6, 2006) - Light Environmental, Inc., a full service solution provider for state-of-the-art wastewater treatment and water recycling systems, announced the initiation of its construction of a 300,000 GPD activated sludge treatment plant for the City of Lake Lotawana, Missouri.

Light Environmental, Inc. conducted a thorough review for the city of various wastewater processes and technologies. After considering the various options, the city selected a system meeting the stringent requirements for water quality set by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the state regulatory authority.

Light Environmental, Inc. assisted the city in obtaining funding for the project from the Missouri Public Utility Association. It also was instrumental in saving the city more than a million dollars due to equipment cost increases that came about due to natural disasters on the East Coast and in the South which caused prices to more than double in some instances.

The City of Lake Lotawana has more than 50 acres of wastewater lagoons. This new GPD activated sludge treatment plant will assist the city in its efforts to meet the established treatment standards for discharge into down stream waters with regard to nitrates, phosphorus and solids. The new plant will also eliminate the odor problems and pollution that has previously plagued the city and adjacent businesses.
